Local Beaches
Playa Blanca offers an excellent selection of beaches, what we feel to be some of the best in Europe, all within 15 minutes reach from the villa by car or local bus service to Playa Blanca town. For those travelling to Papagayo or other beaches around the island, buses, taxis and boat services are reasonably priced and readily available.
Playa Flamingo
The nearest beach to Villa Paradiso is Playa Flamingo, located within an easy five minute drive of the complex. Playa Flamingo is a very attractive and safe white sand beach suitable for families, in a calm and sheltered setting. Backed by palm trees, a small selection of bars and restaurants, there is plenty to do in the day and is but a short stroll away from the centre of Playa Blanca town.
Playa Blanca
The white beach in the centre of town, from which Playa Blanca gets its name, is easy to access in front of the promenade and has been awarded a European 'blue flag' - a prestigous international award, which acts as a guarantee to tourists that a beach or marina they are visiting is one of the best in the world.
Playa Dorada
Playa Dorada, a few minutes walk East of Playa Blanca has also been awarded a 'blue flag', and is another excellent beach. with pedalos, banana boat rides, jet-skis and parascending. A commercial centre, located behind the beach, provides a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. This is a bustling place to be in the evening also, with internet cafés, sports bars, and fast food outlets.
The Six Beaches of Papagayo
The famous Papagayo beaches (Playa Mujeres, Playa del Pozo, Playa de Papagayo, Playa de La Cera, Puerto Muelas and Caleta del Congrio) are situated to the East of Playa Blanca, approximately 15 minutes by car from Shangrila Park. Six golden sand beaches on a protected natural heritage site charging €3 daily entry charge including parking. The whole area around Papagayo is completely unspoilt as no development of the area is allowed, in order to maintain and protect its natural beauty. As such, there are few facilities in the area (2 restaurants on the cliffs overlooking Playa de Papagayo). This makes a relaxing and adventurous picnic day out, by car or by taxi-boat from Playa Blanca harbour. Well worth a visit!
